13.10.2003 – International tournament „2. Czech Open“ took place in Třeboň during weekend 10.-12. October 2003, organized by Czech Taekwon-do ITF Federation. Organizing of the competition itself was task for Prague taekwon-do school Sonkal cooperating with referee chief Dr. Rostislav Kaňka. About 170 competitors from 22 taekwon-do schools from Czech Republic, France, Greenland, Slovenia and Slovakia participated. Few world vice-champions competed here:
Martin Kountchev from France (pattern seniors male IV. Dan), Hana Hanousková (sparring seniors female -70kg) a of course Jan Mraček (sparring seniors male -71kg) from Třeboň.
Friday was dedicated only to registration and weighting, but on Saturday hard fights between grade holders (8.-1. kup) in all age categories started. All juniors and seniors competitors had their chance to compare their skills in pattern, sparring, special techniques and power breaking. Kids in pattern, sparring and special techniques. Part of Czech junior national team competed during Saturday too. Nine of ten participants from Sonkal belonged to B category (grade holders). Iva Hřebačková got gold medal (patter female kids 4.kup and above), Linda Deutschová got first place too - in sparring female juniors –53 kg. Very valuable silver medals added Lucie Kolmanová (power breaking and special techniques female juniors). All successes are available in Successes part of our web.
In the end of first competing day „the most successful participants“ of B tournament were appreciated. In kids category Anna Pösingerová (Kwang-Myong) and Filip Gavlas (TKD Frýdek-Místek), between juniors and seniors two competitors had same number of medals and regarding this fact trophies couldn’t be given. In senior category Kristýna Rybová (Czech junior national team) and David Novotný (Koguryo Třebíč).
Sunday program was A tournament – fights between black belts holders from junior and senior category. Very good competition was seen in senior patterns I.Dan and i senior matsogi –71kg. We had only one participant in Sunday part – Pavel Zavadil. In juniors patterns I. Dan he lost in final with more experienced competitor from Greenland and got silver medal, in matsogi Pavel got 3rd place. Unfortunately in special techniques only two competitors entered – Pavel and Urban Zaloznik from Slovenia. Pavel got first place in equity, especially his dolmyo chagi was great.
Between black belts holders the most successful were: between juniors Tittussen Angutinnguaq (Greenland), in male senior category Jiří Teslík (Il-Dong Ostrava) and in senior females Žaneta Geberová (Tong-Il České Budějovice). The most successful subject participated was Czech junior national team with 9 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal.
