Ondřej Vrábel, 29.11.2010 – Empty ponds and snow-covered landscape reminded coming Christmas. Despite of below zero weather, atmosphere in Třeboň sport hall was warm, because of 250 competitors from 25 taekwondo schools taking part in second international open competition – Třeboň Open. Three clubs from Slovakia and youth from Belarus came to compete together with Czech taekwondoists.
Four tatamis were prepared for patterns and sparring, one for special techniques and one for power breaking. Competition itself started with opening ceremony at 9:45, and then fights broke forth. Kids and juniors started first and we have to mention impressive skills of Belarus competitors especially in sparring and special techniques. Also brothers from Slovakia got few medals, but most trophies stayed home.
This event was obligatory for Czech national team members in preparation for February European championship in Tallinn. We saw experienced ones together with newcomers fighting for their place in national team. Senior categories started in the afternoon and we saw few national team members fighting in seniors for the first time. For example Patrik Svoboda, Vojtěch Fiala and Monika Junová did well, reaching to medal places.
Evening final matches were made more interesting by girls from Storm dances group as you may see in photo gallery. Last medals were given and most successful clubs and individuals were announced:
The most successful school was Tong-il as last year, second place – Sonkal, again as last year and Belarus team got third place.
See you at Třeboň Open 2011 (26th November 2011).
